Global Citizen 2019

The Challenge

As a longtime sponsor of Global Citizen, Verizon sought to create a meaningful presence at the 2019 festival that extended beyond traditional event sponsorship. The objective was to leverage one of the world's largest platforms for social impact and advocacy to increase awareness of Verizon Innovative Learning, the company's education initiative focused on expanding access to technology and digital skills for underserved students.

Working in partnership with Global Citizen and Snapchat, the challenge was to design an experience that could engage thousands of concert attendees while connecting the energy of a live cultural event to a larger story about education, opportunity, and digital equity.

The Solution

As Art Director and Designer, I developed a series of branded touchpoints and experiential moments that brought Verizon Innovative Learning to life throughout designated Verizon activations at the festival.

The experience combined physical and digital storytelling elements, creating opportunities for attendees to engage with the program in ways that felt immersive, relevant, and shareable. Working across multiple partners and stakeholder groups, I translated program objectives into audience-facing experiences that balanced education, entertainment, and brand engagement.

By integrating interactive content and digital experiences into the festival environment, the work helped transform Verizon's sponsorship presence from a branded footprint into a platform for storytelling and participation.

The Result

The final experience amplified awareness of Verizon Innovative Learning within one of the year's most visible cultural and social impact events, creating meaningful connections between festival attendees, the Verizon brand, and the program's mission.

The project demonstrated how experiential design can extend beyond event marketing to support broader brand and community initiatives—using culture as a vehicle for engagement, education, and impact.

To bring the scale and impact of Verizon Innovative Learning to life, we worked with Snapchat to create a series of interconnected AR experiences across the Global Citizen grounds. When attendees scanned the snapcode, they were served enhanced content that included hero videos from Pharrell, stat animations, and content of students that Verizon supported through it’s VIL program.
